Trying to get the truck ready for the mud drags tommorow and I'm having no luck. Main problem right now is severe missing that starts around 4000 RPM and hesitation off idle and up. Truck is not running even close to what its capable of.. Suspect bad plug wires, but I'm not sure please advise.

Open hood and look for sparks in the dark....Heck pull the cap and rotor for a look, and run the timing light....

I doubt it is a fuel problem. I had this problem on my 96 Bonneville after I put in new plugs and plug wires. I thought I may do a little test drive to see if I could warm the plugs and wires up. I just went down the road and floored it to get some good rpm's despite the hesitation, it quit and I havent had problems since.
