I have an '87 K5 with 3:08 gears. I found a 3:08 rear from a '79 1/2 Chevy 4x4. Will this '79 axle fit under my '87??

I would very much like to find used 3:73 gears to swap into my '87, but I have been unable to find an affordable set, or even a full set for that matter. Does anyone know of any for a decent price. Will consider buying an entire parts truck if the price is under 700.

Thank you for your help

i'm going to assume that your 87 has a stock 700R4 in it, and you're running at least a 33" tire. is that correct?

blazer axles

It is a stock 700R4. I will eventually have 33 inch tires, but as of now have some given to me that are actaully 32's. I also have a 4 inch lift I am going to put on when the axle is changed. I'd prefer 3:73's, but I'd like to just throw this 3:08 under it for the winter until I can find some 3:73's.

IF it is a 12bolt you will need a conversion U-joint:
1310 (12 bolt) to S44 (10 bolt) 3-3130 (Neapco)

if its a 10bolt you will be able to bolt it right up.
