When i wrecked my blazer the fan motor crushed the plenum and disfiguRed the little hole THAT THE AIR FLOWS THROUGH. I know i wont be able to get the firewall pulled out enough to put a new plenum thing so could i just make one and tack it on to my firewall where the old one was and seal around it. would i just build a box with a hole for the fan? or does it have to have a certain shape/ PLEASE HELP ITS REALLY COLD, THIS IS MY ONLY TRUCK AND I CANT AFFORD TO LEY A BODY SHOP FIX IT.

no freakin clue what your talking about....... if ya posted a pic?

you could always buy an aftermarket for like $125, just screw it down in the cab somewhere and run hoses to it to get ya by....

you mean this?

it's my somewhat waterproof electronics box... houses all the relays, breakers, battery switch, etc for my engine compartment...

and you can also see i dont run stock heat anymore.. i have that summit heater in the cab now...

well, it was just temporarily mounted on top of the trans tunnel... cuz i'm using the inside firewall space.... you can see it in this pic..

but now with my cage, it's going back on the firewall, right behind where the ashtray would be... in the middle..

olen, I ditched my A/C and ended up making my own box out of thin gauge steel. I did however leave the original part where the blower/fan bolts up. Basically all you need is a round hole to mount the blower in the box that pulls air from that side of the firewall and blows it through the door in the firewall. I just ran outside to snap a few pics....(man it's cold..hahaha)

it does pretty well... not quite as good as stock heat, but decent... fan blows like a mutha on high...

thanks man. does it warm the truck good? is it loud? sorry im asking so many questions your just the only one who's helping. oh and on a stock truck could i still mount it on the firewall? thanks again for your help.

the only way to mount the aftermarket on a stock truck to the firewall, would be to rip the stock heat out.. then, yeah, sure, you'd have tons of room on the firewall...

it's not overly loud.. but like i said, on high it blows hard, little bit loud.. i usually just run it on med than it's pretty quite...
