Please help, my truck won\'t hardly run

This morning I got in my blazer to go to school and it started and ran just like normal, then I got to the stop sign at the end of my street it died, I thought it was just cold at first, but it didn't want to start. I finally got it to run, it ran ok at higher rpm, but at lower rpm it was like it was running on 3 or 4 cylinders. If I let off the gas it would die and be hard to start again, so I had to back up all the way back to my house with one foot on the brake and one foot on the gas to keep it going. It's been missing alot on takeoff lately and I thought it was just because my headders burnt 1 or 2 of my spark plug wires. I'd really like to get this thing running again this after noon. Thanks for any help.

I think some new wires and plugs are in order, or just clean the plugs youhave. I think those dead cylinders are filling with fuel and bogging you down. Buts thats just my 2 cents

Sounds like a vacuum leak to me. If the truck backfired at all it probably blew off a line. This is the most common thing for what you are describing.

Check these and let us know

That's what I was hoping to hear, I have a new set of taylor spyro-pros on the way, they should get delivered this after noon. The vacuum line looked fine this morning when I looked at it, but I'll check again when I get home. Thanks for the quick replies.

Re: Please help, my truck won\'t hardly run

Get a can of carb clean and spray your vacuum lines and connections when the engine is running and idling. Also spray along the base of the carb and intake gasket near the heads. If the idle changes when you spray, you have a vacuum leak in the area you are spraying.

Try checking the distributor cap also.

Re: Please help, my truck won\'t hardly run

Mine had the same symptom's last week..
installed a new set of plug's... what a difference.. found two wire's that had dried up and became brittle around the boot's.. causing some arching..
Today she( BB aka Baby Blazer my 89) get's a new set of plug wires..

I haven't failed, I've found 10,000 ways that don't work. www.rocko.rockcrawler.com

Re: Please help, my truck won\'t hardly run

I have the problem with my choke not opening all the way. I start running rich which fouls the plugs. Dose it more now that it's getting colder outside. Anyways, I end up flooding the engine. Just a thought.

Re: Please help, my truck won\'t hardly run

Thanks for all the help. I replaced my plug wires and I think that fixed it. I didn't find any vacuum leaks. It's running a little rough, but I'm just happy it's running.

Hey Jown Ward your signature sign is...lets say Low Life, I just me, and no one else finds it offensive, I speak from a Christian Stand point, plus all the souls the Marines have killed most likely are filling up Hell not Heaven. No Offense intended just a remark.
