please, please, do not use wheel spacers

wow, glad you where able to catch it before it become a problem.best wishes to you also.

That is scary, but I bought a used set of spacers and ran them for several years with no problems what so ever. I ran 33's and 35's and used the truck on some pretty serious trails.

One thing to keep in mind, you do not want to overtighten lugs (or any other bolts for that matter) because you can stress them and cause a failure.

i didnt have wheel spacers, but last spring i was driving down the road and made a left turn, and it turned out that all of my lugs had busted off, and BOOM the back right tire goes rolling off, im trying to keep the car on the road.... i was afriad the tire was gonna hit someone but luckily it ran into an open door [1 in a million chance] at a cvs and stopped after it hit a display.
i donr know the problem, but all 5 of the lugs had snapped.
im glad no one got hurt

I just read this post. I'm glad that everyone is alright. I had a rim come of the rig before and know that feeling. I am planing on using wheel spacers though. Do you still have your old spacers, and do you want to get rid of them? What brand were they? Did you go back to the place that you bought them from and what did they say about them? Thanks for the help and again glad that everyone is Ok!

its from the same place as the write up in the tech section. no, i havent contacted them yet. the one spacer that came off was trashed. i may get a replacement and double nut the like grim said and maybe go as far as get a few locking lug nuts for each also. i never want this to happen again. especialy if my family is in there with me. after i do install it again, if i do, i will check them at least twice afterwards. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

So the alum ring didn't fail the the nuts came off?
I'm changing a 8 lug to a 6 lug with a spacer ring and want to make sure the alum ring was tnot the weak point.

nope the nuts came off. why ? who knows. the other side was fine. but ill tell ya some thing though, it was scarey! /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

i have been running spacers for a year and i check them when i rotate the tires, i put lock tite on the lug nuts just to make sure they dont come off.
i had my front driver wheel pop off on me right after i was on the free way. it poped off and when my body came down on it, the wheel poped about 10' into the air and rolled into the field about 100 yards accross the road. scary as heck. luckily i didnt hit anybody. someone had loosend my lugs. so i took 3 lugs from the other wheels, put the wheel that poped off back on the truck and kept going like nothing happend, except with body damage and short on lugs /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The bolt do wear out along with lug nuts with use. May want to replace all the boths and nuts when you replace them. I wouldn't wait to long befor you contact them about this. If you want to get rid of them give me a shout! Thanks!
