Well I popped for a 1988 Suburban and dragged it to Montrose tonight.

Plans are to get it running and pull parts off my Blazer to build it up.

Those radios aren't that bad. There is someone on ebay (factory radios) who adds plugs in them so you can use your mp3 player or ipod right thru them.
Western altenator in montrose off of 5th is another ck5 member...lots of knowledge down there.

Well I got fracked on the Suburban I bought and need a motor it has a rod through the block. So I need a GOOD 350 TBI located in Colorado and I do not have much money.

Even at a grand Id say you did good for that burb.Blown motor and all.

Well it is not the first time I have been frocked. The guy had to know he threw a rod and if he would of told me I would of passed. But hey poo happens.

So if I fix it I will be spending
$600 Motor (I guess)
$300 Labor
$150 fix column
$500 cost of burb
$250 for fuel two trips
$214 for tow
$2014 min total

I'm out $964 so far........

Are you sure it's a 1989? That is not an '89 grille, and '89 radio or dash, an '89 two tone paint job (thanks Colby...), an '89 seat pattern, etc.

typo on my part it is a 1988 must of been tired when I posted. Sorry.......

OK I want to replicate the truck in Dante's Peak. I have found the original Con-ferr Porthole Roof Rack. It measures 60" wide by 84" long and with 6" sides. It is located in Lake Arrowhead, CA. They want $250 for it and then I would need shipping.

I may have found the WARN transform grill guard here in Colorado. I still need to find the rear tire carrier, snorkel, CARR light rack and the lights.

I am going to start panning for gold as soon as I can get in mountains.

That Dante's Peak Suburban is sexay, and if you can get yours looking close to that, that would be awesome. A grand for that isn't too shabby, even with a blown motor, and I bet the guy knew it threw a rod, he just didn't tell you.

You going to paint it red too or leave the factory paint? I like that brown paint scheme.

I found one of those in the town dump's metal pile several years ago!--it had a large sheet of aluminum diamond plate for a floor,I used it to cover the rotted wood bed on my '82 stepside K2500,and made the rest of it into a yard trailer (with two "axles" from an old tire rack from a friends tire shop!)--to tow behind my garden tractor!--it also came with two "Go Marines" license plates too......figures I now have an '85 Suburban it would have been good for,but it already has a factory roofrack anyway...always wondered what it came off of originally...

Well the trans4mer I looked at was to small and the guy was solid on the $100 so I have found one in Richmond VA and need to see if Muddytaz ( i think he lives near by) would get it and ship it to me.

What's funny is that my dad bought a suburban of those same colors (Brown and tan) and painted it bright red. I like the red for yours too. :thumb1:

My first truck was a Red 1974 c20 two years old and it was a rust bucket! :doah:

I had one of those Con-Ferr roof racks on my 1990 Blazer years ago. A friend of mine and I went camping for a week and we threw our packs on the rack along with my hi-lift jack, shovel and a couple of 5 gallon water cans. It sure freed up some room in the back of my Blazer "Miles" to get some of the stuff out on the roof.

I do believe my Suburban needs a roof rack too considering how much damn baby support gear we have to travel with when we go camping....
