ive seen this done on some buggies but how plausible is it on one of our rigs???

my truck has no dash, wiper motor or just about any thing on the fire wall except the ecciantials..so if i was to cut some of the flat sections out and replace them with plexi is this safe for a trail rig???also is it a good idea??

the main reason is when climbing hills and not being able to see in front you can just look through the firewall or the floor...you could just look out the door seeing is how im running no doors but the 5 point harness kinda stops you from doing that...

i know gmc4cw out one in his floor but have any of you others done anything similar??

i tried it years ago with both lexan and plexiglass. iirc, the plexiglass flexed better, but got chipped and scratched too easily. the lexan cracked after one offroad excursion. it's doable, but it would take some better stuff than i was using, probably.

Whatever you do, you might check to make sure they aren't flammable if that would be an issue for you. I think either acrylic (plexi) or lexan burns pretty easily, I forget which.

mine was good when I had the doors on. now that they are off I don't even realize its there. I just run the lap belt and crotch belt for the flat stuff. my cam lock harness you can latch in without undoing anything. then when I hit the harder stuff I latch in the shoulder straps.

other then the spot I have cut out there really isn't another spot that will give you a view of anything.

do you have pictures? what did you do? did you simply put something like expanded metal under neath for rigidity?
