Does anyone have a good idea how to add in the plow frame lights to the lighting sytem. For example, my thought is to add in a switch so when the plow is on the truck the plow lights are on when you pull out the light switch and the lights in the grill are off so you dont get the relection back from the plow. and when the plow is off I can switch the switch and run the factory lighting. Is there a way to splice this into the existing wiring?

There are wiring kits for plow lights, most are manufacture specific.

Yes it can be done using relays and a switch. I would suggest buying a kit that is plug and play rather than splicing. If you do go the DIY route, buy the right connectors for a plug and play installation. No one likes hacked wires!

You'll need to provide more info--what year truck it is,what kind of plow lights--I have a Fisher wiring diagram in my garage somewhere that shows you you connect their 6 prong toggle switch and harness to the existing lights on a square body truck...

Personally,if my '82 GMC did not already have that switch and wiring harness previously installed,I would probably have wired the plow lights to another stock GM headlamp switch and dimmer switch, since I have both in my parts stash..sometimes having the two sets of lights "married" can give trouble, and neither set of lights will work..not a good thing when its dark and snowing.

I wired up a few pairs of plow lights that way in other trucks and had good results..one thing I wish mine had now,is an indictator showing when your plow lights are on,or the stock headlamps--its not always easy to tell when the blade isn't on...until the guy your behind flips you off and moves his rear view mirror aside!..

plow lights

It is a 1990 k5

The plow is a western, old school cable type controls

My old 86 had a toggle switch with like 6 wire connection points, just not sure how/where it gets wired in
