I'm swapping my 12b for a 14bff and won't be able to do the brakelines for awhile.

Looking for ideas on how to plug the system at the dist block on the pumpkin.

Short piece of brakeline with a compresion fitting plug?

Any ideas welcome

Second question, if i do plug it, can i use the front brakes to move the truck in the driveway or will it pop the safety valve over?

Thanks, Recon

You could clamp a pair of vice grips on the rubber line. It ‘may’ damage it so only do that if you’re planning on replacing it. It shouldn’t trip the safety valve.

Trying to reuse the yellow extended ss line, but if there's no other better way i mite have to sacrifice it

they make caps for the 45* double flare seat . prob a napa or carquest would be a place i would start . like these https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-785-450-Brake-Line-Plug/dp/B004SF0ZGM

as said vise grips ( needle nose wider surface area less damage ) can be used light pressure is all thats needed . but left on to long can cause the hose to go bad .

braided steel line = DO NOT CLAMP HOSE as it will damage it .

i have 5 pair of these in the small size from blue-point php-3

Yeah, braided ss so not gonna crush unless it's the only way.

The caps sound like the ticket, do you know if they come in male threads?

Quick search turned up inverted flare plugs, also says inverted and double flare mean the same.

True? Couldn't remember what flare was specd

Yes, IF plugs is what you want. Preferably in brass so you dont mar the seats, but steel will work too.

What if you just looped one of the lines from the distribution block to the existing wheel cylinders right back to the block?

I've had to use a hammer to smash a few rotted brake lines shut so I could limp home with "half the brakes" working more than once..

I have used male brake tubing line nuts with the hole for the tubing welded or brazed closed as "plugs" too, when none of the parts stores had any of the ready made IF plugs on hand..
Looping the brake line may work, but only if you can bleed the air out, otherwise you'll have to pump the pedal many times to build up pressure and get the front brakes to apply..

Yeah the looped line would work but would tie up that line and i couldn't install til right at the end of install

Found 3/8 24 inverted flare plugs at adv auto, used for plugging extra master cyl ports

Gonna pick some up, will update thread when installed

Thanks for the help guys

Old brake line that has the same nut as junction block takes. Cut line so you have @2" of line sticking out of nut fold over, squish, fold squish. Thread into block check for leaks. Might need to loosen under pressure, bleed, to keep proportion valve from shifting
