Hi. I have been looking at PMA4X4's Front bumper 'DYI' kit. Instructions seem to be very well laid out and some thought appears to be put forth into the overall product and it's presentation. Anyone put together this kit before?

With that, I have very minimal welding experience. I am thinking that I the key to success is just taking the time with it and closely following the instructions - but maybe I am fooling myself. If I get it, I will be using a mig stick welder, Miller thunderbolt 225.

I was thinking about designing a similiar kit over Christmas break. I was thinking a prerunner style first then a matching rear with an optional spare carrier.Maybe a plate style next if there is any interest.

I like that bumper a lot. It's exactly what I always pictured on the front of my blazer, maybe add some brush guards out around the headlights.
See if you have a local welder that would help you w/ it if you're not confident in your skills. Maybe he'd get it all tacked together nice and straight and you could burn the rest of it in. Nothing wrong w/ a stick welder if you know how to use it. My friend is a welder and he does 90% of his fab work w/ stick. It's a matter of pride for him not to use a mig.

Good luck w/ it.

I am familiar with the kit, I am considering buying one when I get to that phase of my project.

You're pretty near local, I might hafta buy your kit if it turns out as nicely as the PMA kit. I'm planning either a double swing out or a swing down spare tire carrier for my barn door Suburban.

I built one for my buddies suburban, great kit. Bumper is easy and straight forward to build. We added the brush guard to his, using two 90 degree elbows and some straight tubing. Came out great. I would definitely recommend getting the PMA bumper kit.
