PO Suprizes!!! Good, bad, ugly...

I'm guilty of trying that stuff on my van,to fill in some rot holes so bondo could be applied over it...in less than a year the area looked like a tumor ,ready to pop...it sucks up water like a sponge ,holds it there, and makes sheet metal turn into something resembling rusty flaky puff pastry...:(..

Metal is the only thing to put over holes--even if its only pop riveted or drive screwed in place,it'll last a lot longer than any quick fix like that foam crap,or steel wool, crumpled up aluminum foil,--I have even seen newspapers and fiberglass house insulation used to fill "cavaties" in rockers and rear quarters before..

Extension cord wiring. Both my Deuce and crew cab. Both ex volunteer fire department vehicles. The crew had one wire from the cord jammed into the hot side of the horn fuse, ran to a switch screwed into where the volume knob would be, then ran to a hole in the roof where a light bar once was.

The GP controller on my suburban evidently failed. Rather than wire a button to control the GP relay, the P.O. took a 4-gauge wire from each side of the relay and ran them (unfused) under the dash to a 5-amp push button. When I got the truck the internals of the button had melted (no surprise), so he was using a pair of pliers to reach under the dash and short the terminals together. Of course, without touching the metal dash, to avoid arc welding. ;)
