I recently fixed the leak on my 241 transfer case - it was actually in the gasket between the tailhousing and the body - not in the tailshaft seal. Happily, I am now leak free.

In the process of buing parts to fix it, I bought a new front seal and rear seal. I already replaced the rear seal while working on the leak. I'm swapping out axles today, and since I'm going to drop the fron driveline and replace the joints while I'm under it I was debating on whether to go ahead and swap out the front seal as well. Opinions?

One vote and one comment? Come on guys, I'm gonna go get dirty in a minute so lets have some input!

Please??:D

No leak=no replace

if it ain't broke then there isn't anything to fix. and it would suck to replace the seal and have the new one leak.

Thanks guys. I kinda figured I could just throw the seal in the spare parts box so I have it if it springs a leak, but wanted the 2nd opinion. The original stays!
