What should I do, I have access to an 03 duramax frame complete with suspension and axles. Should I use the 11.5 discd rear with 4.11, or use the front rotors and calipers for a rear disc conversion on my detroit locked 4.56 14 bolt cucv rear??? On the upside, I could still have a ebrake with the 11.5" rear, but I would have to change the gears in the front d60 and lose gearing, and find a locker or posi that would work with the new rearend.

How much is the D-max rolling frame?

Ill just say it is less than what I could get if I scrapped it at a metal yard, and the usage would be in my 1985 m1008 cucv and will be daily driven starting this summer, with camping, light towing, and offroading on the weekends when time permits. Now vote ya bastages, the guy wants a decision tonight.

I voted for #4, cause after that, you can still do #1;) And it would just be more fun that way:D

I would do number one, since you plan to use this rig as a dd. Because in Texas you have to have a parking brake to pass state inspection.

I would keep the diff you have now and use a cutting brake for an e-brake (kind of like a line lock, it uses a mechanical lever like most e-brakes).

Buy the 11.5 and sell it for profit.

Cutting brakes work similar to line locks: you hold down the brakes and pull the lever and it will hold brake pressure (front or back, based on how you plumb the lines).

Electric line locks will eventually bleed off pressure and drain your battery so they aren't good long term parking brakes.

Cutting brakes are all mechanical and make good parking brakes.

if u can get it cheap get it. what size tire are u going to be running? 4.56 with the diesel and th400 is only gona be ideal if ur running at least 35-37's since there is no overdrive. 4.10's would be better if u plan to stay below 37's. i had 4.10s in my k30 6.2/th400 with 39.5's and it wasnt that bad, but if it were on 35's like before it would been perfect
