I tell you...start a simple project like swapping a transfer case, and all sorts of problems crop up. Being me, they seem to be unique. This is an Energy Suspension 1117. (correction...mine is marked 1117, and it may have been the part number in the past, but 3.1129 is now showing as the correct Energy poly trans mount for the '85-91 C/K/R/V's)

I didn't know these things would even come apart. The reason I bought it was the horrible results I've had with the aftermarket rubber mounts, even in my "stock" application. It's not like they are behind a big block or anything. Have an email in to energy now, to ask what I'm seeing. It doesn't look like a weld broke, I'm confused how they are supposed to hold together.

I'll let the pics speak for themselves. Noticed something was wrong when I started to snug the crossmember up against the mount, and the threaded bottom portion started to pull free of the upper half of the mount...

weren't you having motor mount issues too? Looks like your engine/trans was rocking forward/back.....

I had motor mount issues on one side, but not fore and aft movement. Bolt was still through the motor mount.

Isn't 3.1117 the motor mount? This should be 3.1129 or something like that. It's not clear what the secondary safety is supposed to be in that mount. Is it like one rectangle tube in another? I wish they would show cut-away views in the ads. When I see what appears to be just a block of plastic with steel at both ends, it's hard to trust. With most stock designs you can see the steel cross pin and know that your transmission can't come free even if the rubber shreds.

You can't see it on the mount in that pic, but it's got 1117 cast into it.

I think they changed the part number. I see they've corrected their website to reflect the '85+ K trucks using this trans mount finally. 3.1129 definitely appears to be the correct number for us.

I also agree on the secondary safety. There is obviously a weld at the top of that rectangular insert, but I couldn't see where anything broke that it had been welded to, no idea what else a weld there could have been for. I wonder if there was a flat plate that it was supposed to be welded to that is sandwiched inside the mount. I would be curious to know what they look like inside as well.

It's in the box to go back to Energy today for them to take a look at. They say they'll replace it.

I still use the rubber ones. Just seems like after 40 years they still last pretty good. Glad they are replaceing it.

I asked the rep that emailed me back for patent drawings or sectional drawing/photo if they had one, but I didn't get a response. I hope they don't just bond these things together.
