Poor front shackle angles ...stock and lift

Why do our trucks have such poor front shackle angles?
Is there an engineering reason for this?
Seems all the stock suspension AND lift trucks have near vertical front shackles.
From pictures I've seen, this doesn't seem to apply to the ORD/Alcan custom springs, so those aren't the ones I am enquiring about.

It's probably because the stock springs are negative arch. Compression will pull the shackle forward so having a rearward angle would probably ride more harsh (because it goes to vertical) and then with forward angle you might run a chance of the shackle going too far and locking against the frame.
