Thoughts? I'm seriously considering this just worried about support.

(nevermind the wheel and tire pic, pic stolen from pirate)

When my Blazer was still a full Blazer, I LOVED driving like that with my soft top (Bestop, when they still did them).

Windows rolled up, everyone still had shade but you had the open feel and the breeze :pimp:

I don't know how well it would hold up without a stiff chassis (i.e. cage tied to frame), but there isn't much to lose by trying.

I live in New Mexico and with my light skinned kids this was way cheaper than a soft top.The weather here kills vyinal tops about 3yrs and they are no good.560972_4375347909850_8929328_n.jpg

how long has it been cut like that? how well is it supported? how much did it weight after glass removal and cutting?

looks fine...I had a CJ-7 as a kid, kept the back & sides rolled up...

I really like the way Dave did his Iron Maiden rig...cut the top portion off and mounted it to the roll cage...it's in here somewhere...post #2478 on page 50 :bow:

I have had mine cut for 2 yrs now and it is still hanging in there,I havent wheeled as hard as some of you.The top has its bolts in to the top of cab and I added 2 holes to the side corner in the rear, the back glass has not been on truck in 3 yrs so not sure if it would even work like this as for weight I kno it was heavy for 2 people when it had glass and sides but 2 people can grab it and throw it on

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm how much weight did you lose hacking it up like that? I love this idea

I'm mainly curious if it made it more or less manageable to move? I would consider putting my top back on for the shade in the tx heat if when I hacked it up like that- which looks AWESOME btw- it was significantly lighter.

It is lighter for sure without the glass, mine was sliders. The only thing is there is no where to grab to set it on the truck with a 6in lift and 35's it was hard with a 4ft 9in helper

That top is sweet. I am going to have to track down a spare.

What did you use to cut the top up? Have any up close pictures of the cuts and what parts of the supports show through?

 :hack:

I used a sawzall and angle grinder to cut mine. The supports were the hardest part to cut straight and leave the dome light in the rear.
I will take a few better pics today.
