I think there is something wrong with my windshield glass. I've had this blazer for a few months now, I've only taken it out in the rain a couple times. My windshield gets really foggy but its not something I can just wipe off. I can get a rag and scrub the inside and outside of the glass and it doesn't help. It's as if a layer within the glass is getting foggy. It's hard to explain, but when its raining out and I have the wipers on, I have really poor visibility. The glass looks clear when dry.

Any idea what could be causing this?

I also have wipers that only go on high speed and don't shut off gracefully. I have to time them to have them shutoff in the lower position. What parts should I be looking to replace to fix this?

It's kind of rare, but I've seen some windshields fog up weird when they start to delaminate. It usually happens around the edges or any rock chips if there are any. But Ive never seen it happen to the whole window, just in splotchy patches or areas and only from fairly old vehicles like from the 80s or older.

Yeah, but that milky delaminated look doesn't go away...

A good glass cleaner is the first place to start. Inside and out obviously. Get good wipers, nothing worse than craptastic wipers. It kinda sounds like there is wax or something else on the exterior glass. You might have to clean it a few times to get rid of it.

Then try the Rain-X.

rain ex also makes a product called fog ex.wipes on like the rainex but its for the inside of the window for defogging it and wont allow it to fog anymore.rainex the outside after a really good cleaning and fog ex the inside also after a good cleaning.beyond that, you might have to replace the winshield if it is delamed that bad where moisture is inside between the layers.dont know what year truck you have but sounds like the switch is bad for the wipers to be doin that.

Mine truck used to do this and it was a leaking heater core. The defroster was evaporating the leaking coolant/water and blowing it onto the windshield which created a horrible fog that was hard to wipe off and hard to see through.

x2 on the heater core. i disconnected mine a few years ago after finding a leak (i don't need a heater anyway) and feel much safer in rain now. windows still fog some but easy to wipe away

I had the heater core cause mine to fog up too.

New dually I just bought when they detailed it, bastards got armor-all all over the inside of the windshield. Yeh, it was friggin horrible when the glass fogged up. Im still cleaning my windshield trying to get it all off. Ive used invisible glass on it like 10-12 times and theres still a few little spots.

Oh and the rain-x antifog crap doesnt work. That made my windows fog worse.

If it shows up when you turn on the defroster, I'd suspect the heater core also. If that is what it is, water will eventually get it off, but you have to keep using new rags.
Otherwise, denatured alcohol will often cut stuff nothing else will.
BUT, be real careful. Windshields for many years now have a plastic Mylar covering on the inside, to keep your face from getting all cut up when it hits it during a wreck.
The stuff is really tough, but easily scratched. After which, you cannot get the scratch out. So, no matter how tempted, leave the steel wool in the kitchen.
