On my 72 K5 when I turn my steering wheel I can hear and feel a popping noise. What could this be?

any joint in the steering system..... tie rod, drag link, tie rod ends for starters

Might be the frame is cracked around the steering box

it sounds to me like you have a u-jount out in one of your front axles 
to tell which side it is on see which way you are turning when it happens. if it happens on left and right then you could have some other serious issues or both u-joints out.

Go through and make sure all your bolts are tight in the front end.

Sounds like a front axle ujoint
I had that happening in my 79 until one day "KAPOW" and no more 4WD. I replaced the front axle ujoints and all was well again.

I have the same thing on mine, when i look at the steering components it looks like the leafs are sliding in and out and making that noise... just some input good luck finding out what it is

it did that on mine, and the center pin in the springs had broken
Check your spring bushings if your springs are moving back and forth. Re torque the u bolts regurally, the come loose eventually if never checked.

What he said, thats my vote if memory serves me .Have a freind or wife or what not turn the wheels from left to right, while your under there checking, find it fast that way.Just make sure you dont owe the person any money, the one in the cab .
