popping out of 4 wheel

has any one come across there np203 transfer case popping out of four wheel ,but the shifter does not jump out of place ,the problem i'm having is that when i'm in 4x4 it jumps out into 2x4 every 5 to 10 sec then back into 4x4 again and this goes on all the time,so i pulled the t-case apart found the main shaft that holds the upper gear for the chain worn out and the washer completely missing ,so i got a new used one and installed it also with a new chain , but it still has the same problem .every thing else is in good condition .and adjusting my linkage does not help?

I'd recommend rebuilding it. Buy a full kit and go through the whole case. That's what I did and I've been trouble free since.

also check your tcase ount on the crossmeber for play

It almost sounds like your gear is walking. Did you make sure the snap rings were all in place, not worn or missing? Was the shift fork in good shape?

range fork is bent or the bushings are bad. I am dealing with the same thing on my 208. I have to rebuild it too.

yes all the snap rings are in place and the fork is good shape ,went to tranny shop they pulled out a fork to show me what it should look like
