My '90 Sub has been having troubles that has gotten progressively worse over the past two weeks. It started out as a slight stumble at times under load, then it got worse. It would severely stumble on moderate to hard acceleration from a stop. Now it's popping back through the intake when it stumbles. I've swapped out the cap, rotor, module, coil, and fuel filter. I'm gonna replace the pickup coil tomorrow. It got a lot worse today after I replaced the ign. coil. Before, it wouldn't do it while brake torquing it, now after the coil replacement it will. Any ideas?

You could try and unplug the egr valve and plug the line. Sticking egr valves exhibit the symptoms you describe. Before you drop the coin on anymore parts or time. Check all vacuum connections too, especially map sensor line.

Check to make sure the wires coming off your starter into your wiring harness aren't arching on headers or something else nearby. I have developed some really strange issues on my 91 due to a problem close sounding to yours. If that's it you'll be able to tug on those wires a little and change the idle/remove problems. Just another idea for you.

Pull one of your spark plugs and take a look at it. If it is a very light white color, which I suspect it will be, you're running very lean. Could be a plugged up carb or a vacuum leak etc

well, when MINE did this type of stuff, it ended up being the fuel pump, it's funny how many times i post up about bad fuel pumps, but in my experience, it tends to go bad before the other electronics do.

Weak pressure was my problem when it did it, and didn't throw any codes for awhile until it got real bad.

I put a new pick up coil and new plug wires (freebie, lifetime warranty) on it today. I test drove it and it seems to be ok, but it only acted up when it was hot. It never acted up in the morning, just in the afternoon on the way home from work. I'll know more tomorrow.

I believe it was the pick up coil, I replaced the wires at the same time, but there was no visible damage to them. The pick up coil had over 200k on it, it was tired.
