Yes about 2.5 quarts u joints are new it happens most hen backing around a corner

How do you know if you have limited slip

Well one way is to hear these noises:D
The second is to jack it up and see if you turn one wheel the other should turn the same way
I found out I have a limited slip in the truck I recently bought that way.
Now I don't know if the previous owner didn't know and changed the gear oil and didn't add the additive but I will be checking it soon.

So did I cause any damage or doi just need to add the additive I have drivin roughly about a hundred miles

Well what I would do is at least check the fluid and see if it's clean or it has any shavings.
I had one before in my 73 blazer that made that noise and all we did was add the additive and we never heard it again.
But since this is a new to me truck I would like to look and see the condition of the gears and everything so I will drain the oil and replace with new and put additives.

100 miles shouldnt have hurt it.a lot of the newer oils have some additive in it.you have to look at the back of the lube bottle and see if it is safe for limited slip.i would check the rear and see whats in there before adding the additive limited slip fluid.if you have one,you would see no gears in there.it will have a spring set and friction pads in place of spider gears.easyest was ids to do what imiceman said.chock front tires, get both back tires off the ground, and spin one tire.if it goes the same direction then you have a limited slip.if it goes opposite of the direction you are spinning it is open.
