Ive got light surface rust on spots of my gas tank, was thinking of just dropping skidplate and paint the tank in place with POR15.

Any problems with doing this?

I bought a pint container, been storing in the fridge like they suggested, hope its still good. lol

I had bought the kit to fix floor pan rot from POR 15. Kept it in my unheated garage for 5 years. All the stuff worked great. I did coat the outside of my gas tank, it was taken off to do it and my gas tank skid. Stuff worked great. I used the degreaser and chassis coat black.

Me too! Looks great Highly recommend it. I would just coat the whole tanke doesn't take that long. You can roll it on too and it levels out looking like powder coat!

As with any "painting" (althought POR15 is more like an epoxy) be sure to follow the instructions proper surface prep is important.

What is also cool is while the POR15 is still tacky you can grab a can of any color spray paint and do a dust-coat of color of the POR15 as a top coat. Not sure if you care about the color of your gas tank, but for any other POR project you might do or anytyhing that is going to see UV light top coat is a good idea.

This isn't a bad idea because POR15 is known to shrink a bit at the edges due to UV exposure. This leads to peeling.
I've used POR15 several times and it's good stuff but does have it's limitations. Trying Rust Bullet now.
