Well after removing the carpet I was happy to see a lack of sunlight thru the floor. I went ahead and bought the floorpan repair kit from POR 15. It was right around $150, it came with a quart of silver, a quart of black, a quart of chasiscote, marine clean, metal prep, a pound of epoxy putty, and fiberglass mesh. Also latex gloves, a mask, and crappy brushes (actually a great brush to use if you want some texture in your paint:whistle:) My only area that was rusted thru area was the door sill, I tried the fiberglass mesh and that looked worse than the hole did. So after sanding all that away I riveted a piece of aluminum on the backside and filled it in with the epoxy putty. Its far from perfect but what do you guys think?

Thanks......I just wonder how many days before I get the paint off my legs from where it soaked thru my work pants:doah:

as long as it's not on your hootus, your golden!

it'll rub off in a couple days usually... hehe, hehe, I said, rub....

Unfortunatley I think I thought " hehe he said rub" before I finished reading his post:rolleyes:

Thanks, seemed so amazingly simple when I started. So much prep work never thought I was going to lay paint

I did the exact same project on one of my 74's. My rot was in the door channels where the metal edge sticks up for the door seal. I used the mesh with the putty and it came out great. Then I cleaned, prepped and POR-15'ed the rest of the interior as you did. I am a big POR-15 fan having used it on my frame, axles, and all kinds of parts. Good job.

Well the chassis coat black could be the final finish if you wanted, it won''t yellow due to sunlight. Eventually I will be covering my floor with some kind of rubber or flooring
