just picked up two kenwood KFC-6882 6x9s at best buy for cheap. I want these things to be heard over my engine, no doors etc. I don't care too much about bass quaility etc, just want them to be loud. So ported or sealed box.

Just a foam baffle behind them is fine , they aren't going to reproduce a lot of real low bass anyway . I would even roll off the lows with your headunit/crossover so you don't distort them .

that was my plan to roll down the lows with the head unit, I'll be running 1 sony xplod 10 for the bass, my head unit has adjustable preout so I can just crank that for bass if I wanted. I do listen to music, none of that rap crap. just have the 10 for a little extra when needed.

Same here , I have 2 tens , and 4 speakers , with the headunit doing the crossover duties . Mostly rock and country , and for such a simple system it sounds fine :thumb:

awesome, well I decided to rig some boxes up with 1x12 wood, see how it works :) Just need a spot to mount the damn things in my truck
