Hey, Im pretty new to the four wheel drive off road scene, and my first is a 1990 K5 Blazer. Im looking into a lift possibly 4 inch with 35's and im looking in a rough country lift with all new springs! Im open to opinions and advice about the quality of the lift and how the Blazer will handle on the road! thanks!

i heard you should stay away from rough country. i have a 6" lift from superlift with 35s and the rides pretty good on the street offroading its on the stiff side... but id suggest doing rear springs instead of blocks more money now but i think its worth it i have blocks right now and in process of upgrading to new springs.

dude, search this site and you'll find more opinions on lifts than you can beat with a stick. but for my input - rough country 4 in spring front, ORD shackle flip in the rear. go check out ORD's site, they have a great "lift in a box" but go with 4in and trim a little.

fixed this for ya.

I have a 4" Rough Country lift with all new springs. I like it. People here say that they ride rough and dont flex but you cant prove that by me. Mine does not ride as soft as a Tough Country lift but I need the higher spring rate for towing and did not want a soft low spring rate.. My K5 rides and handles fine on or off road.
As for flex. Last time I had my K5 on a RTI ramp I did a 920. Which aint bad for a lift that people say does not flex.
The old RC lifts were very stiff. But they improved and redesigned them a while back and they ride better now.
If you do go with a RC lift get new rear springs. Get the upgraded shocks. You probabally wont need the sway bar. My K5 handles fine without it.

you should try Deaver springs! that way you could tell us what you think!!!lol J/K my cousin owns a off road shop and hes say that they will give you the best ride.

I'd go with off road design too. In carbondale colorado. that where you get the parts. Where its put on is up to you.

Thanks for the info!

Thanks everyone! the other thing i was curious about is gear ratios? Ive read some into it and with the 35's i really dont want to tear up my transmission considering this blazer will spend 75% of its time on the road due to being a full time college student and working part time= not a whole lot of time! hahah! so any input about how the gear ratios and the 35"s will get along?

i am going to do a 52" swap in the front and and a 4" shackle flip in the rear. Zero rates at both ends. The whole lift will be under $300.00 for around 5" of lift. Of course, you will have to do cross over steering sith the 52" swap and that will make up for the difference in a regular lift kit. In the end though you will come out ahead because your steering will be better and your suspension will be more functional. Just my opinion.

I have a 6" lift all spring with 35's now. If i had my choice i would go with a 4" springs in front and flip in the rear on 35's. that was the setup of my last truck and was just a little easier to step into. Not that this makes a difference with your door clearence issue. There is one or two at work that run stock with 33's but i do not know that they play on hills. I can make this 6" lift with no trimming rub my tires. I also do not know how nice your truck is so all is hard to say. I like 4" on 35-38 so i get plenty of clearence under my t-case.

yeah i hear yah! im still really decidingon the height of the lift since looking into the four inch with 35's it seems like the necessary parts keep piling up hahaha! but thats all part of it! do you know of any good places in Ga to Wheel?
