I'm going to go look at a k20 this weekend. It has 60/14, 4.56 gears, Detroit lockers in both ends, disk brakes and guardsman on the 14, 35 spline outers, hydro assist high steer crossover, 203/205 triple sticks and a set of dried out 40" MTR's.

Now I'm new to the one ton world so what should I be on the look out for? Like what common problems with the 60 and 14? I'm going to pull the covers to make sure of the gears and lockers. Also what should I look for on the doublers? They are mounted up to a 700R4 and that's what my k5 has. I'm not sure what the condition of the trans in the parts truck is but mine is great so I'll just use mine and possibly rebuild the other and sell or hold for a back up.

Thank you for the help and I hope I have her all put together for next years blazer bash!:waytogo:

so many people say bla bla its got a dana 60 in the front when its a 44 or 10 bolt .

but by the sounds its a real 60 from the upgrades . but be sure as dana 60 front has 4 bolt caps were ball joint nuts would be like on a 44 or 10 bolt front .

as to dana 60 worn out checking check pinion bearing for major play from heavy use by grabbing the saft and yank up/down .

also jack up the axle and check for major play in the king pins . little / reg wear you wont find cause the upper springs . but major play the spring cant take up . easy to reman tho so don't be scared.

good support on the heavy doubler t-case combo . what kit is in it ? does it all work good ?

otherwise you got plans to pop covers and check it does have lockers.

and 14ff rear uses open diff with spider gears out and locker in its place. in the carrier windows there should be a visable spring . if you see theeth its open diff still.

good luck on the possible purchase.

I have pics of it that were sent to me and it looks like a kingpin 60.

I totaly forgot where the truck is at..........................:dunno:

I'm not sure on the doubler but the bad pics I got of it look like it has the GM to GM adapter.

Bought it last night and gonna trailer it home today. No pics yet but I'll get some when I get her home. This truck was built using all ORD parts, crossover high steer, doubler and triple sticks, shackles and shackle flip. Well supported t-cases and custom front and rear bumpers built by a local shop. It's gonna be a good winter project just wish I could fit them in my garage.

In Ogden you got a couple members close to you kgblazer5 is in Hooper and he is a useful sorry of guy

3K for the truck. I looked up what the gear sets and lockers would cost new and that's what I would have paid to get them and a 60/14FF set locally.

Thinking about putting all the parts off of the K5 on this truck and letting my son have it when he turns 16. He has to build the motor though.

That would be a awesome 16th bday present. Great buy on that. You definitely sound to have got more than your money's worth.

Wow, that is the best deal ever. Seriously, I shopped around endlessly for a good 1-ton parts truck, and yours is way better, AND already has a doubler and crossover/highsteer. Super jealous right now. Amazing score!

I have been searching for a long time and got lucky. I need to go through everything cause it's been sitting for 2 1/2 years so it leaks. I just found out yesterday that the rear brakes have a line lock installed and the 205 was modified to do front digs. Here are the pics finally.

I'm going to be putting everything on the white K5 but the sliders. I may cut the tubes off of them and weld them to the set I put on the K5. I can't wait to get working on them but I'm having some serious back issues so it may be on hold for a little while.

Awesome looking! Great find. Man, even has Dig. Is that an ARB in the rear? Did this person forget what they paid for it?! ;)

I wish but it has a Detroit. The coiled line is the breather.

I keep thinking about pulling the motor and trans from the K5 for it but we need the room for the family. Also it has a lot sentimental value to us. We have had it for 13 years and have each put our own personal touches into it.

The wife wants to put a cummins powertrain in the K20 and turn it into a sled puller for her. Only time will tell.

I have a feeling his wife wanted it out of the driveway and it's hard to turn down cash in hand.

I had a question about the 205 support. I have seen where people have added extra support on either the two holes on the passenger side to the frame or on the PTO cover. Should I add one of those as well?

Rest . . .

I like the other stuff you didn't mention, the rear bumper (front sticks out a bit for me) and the sliders, and the skid plate underneath. Nice score.
