on the sending unit. My old one didn't have the factory fitting on it. PO sheet metal screwed it down to the general area. Fuel gauge worked but it ruined the sending unit when I tried to take the screw out.

So I need to get the Jimmy running ASAP ( intake manifold gasket on the grand prix is pushing out coolant)

What have you guys used. Its a brand new sending unit

I am trying to find a decent pic. The stock wire that goes to the sending unit has a push on fitting on it. You just push it on the post.

OK I know what you are talking about now. That terminal/wire must be isolated from the sending unit metal, so I suppose you could just extend the wire from the underside of the sender out through the top (through stock hole or new?) and just epoxy the wire in place. I honestly have never looked at the senders close enough to know how they were built in that regard. I believe even the non-EFI trucks had another connector on that sending unit wire over on/near the frame, right?

Can't think of a better/easier way to do it, although I'm sure you could do something like use ring terminals on the inside and outside wires, and use a long screw/nut to clamp them together through the stock hole, again making sure they don't touch the tank, if the PO didn't completely destroy however GM isolated the terminal to the tank.

I have a spare sender in my garage for a small tank, I'll have to look at it tonight if someone isn't able to look at one by then.

I'm glad that you clarified... I was about to send you pics of my beer fridge.

When it's full, I can work, when it's empty, the garage door stays shut. :waytogo: :D

I've driilled a small hole in the sending unit ground tab and screwed the ground wire to it using a eyelet terminal...got tired of the slip on thing falling off or making crappy contact and making the gauge read screwy...if you mean the wire that runs the pump,it could be fixed as suggested by drilling a hole in the sender as suggested and epoxied..
