Post up your long-term 'burb goals...

Re: Post up your long-term \'burb goals...

Yeah I am leaning towards the BBC/TH400 as it will be much quicker and less expensive. But I got this diesel thing going /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif And if it had an overdrive I might actually keep it. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Post up your long-term \'burb goals...

Well I would say:

Diesel, 4l80e, 14bff / d60 and get a controler and rims and tires.
You have everything else right?
When you go big on your engine tranny you want the bigger axles. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Re: Post up your long-term \'burb goals...

The only thing I don't have anymore is a standalone 4l80E controller. I sold that to Shawn (Potent Rodent) in a fit of "need money now". I've even got a set of hummer rims with runflats, dually hubs for the dana 60 and a dana 70 dually rear, (also got a set of 8 lug 2.5 spacers), and a set of old 38 ground hawgs.

But I'm thinking this is not gonna be a rock crawler per se. If I can sell my 79K5 I'm gonna go back to basics with my M1009 and put the D60 in that. Ala Trusty (engine/trany) = 6.2/SM465/NP208 or TH350+doubler/d60 dually/14ff+spacers or the D70 dually with the hummer rims.

Re: Post up your long-term \'burb goals...

I'd go 454/4L80E/D60/D70 dually all around and hummer rims. The overdrive kicks ass and the 4L80E is indestructible. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Re: Post up your long-term \'burb goals...

Where to begin, there's so much to do! I've had the 2" springs in for a year now, but I'd like to upgrade the shocks, new tires are definitely in order soon too. Before all that though, I need to do some rust repair to one of the body mounts and floor support in the rear. After that, it's on to finally hanging the front door that's been sitting around for a year, and finding some rear doors that are reasonably priced. Then I think I'll move on to the rear quarters. One has a pretty good amount of rust on it, and the good one got nailed by my mother in law's Wrangler when I was flat towing it in a snowstorm. Long story.

The verdict's still out on paint, what color, if I'll do it myself or pay someone, etc. I'm leaning towards doing it myself and using higher quality materials, rather than spending the same at Maaco and getting a crappy job.

Other than that, it's just little stuff like a new stereo, and installing a CB.

Re: Post up your long-term \'burb goals...

OK my turn now?
I need to get a good 6.2 or 6.5 to replace the one I have in my burb.
Hopefully the ATS turbo I have on it will be good otherwise I will rebuild that.
I also want to put some air springs in the rear to help with the towing/leveling.
I am not going crazy with the burb, have enough 4x4 projects.

Re: Post up your long-term \'burb goals...

Skratch, I hope you win the lottery so you'll have the funds to pay for your goal list...awesome!

For myself, /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

1. Need more power. Ultimate goal- ZZ383/425.
option- Turbo Cummins.
2.Need lower gearing. Doubler. I can pick up the 203 free somewhere. ORD has the rest.
3.Tunes. Big sound would be welcomed.
4.Rock sliders. I hav not mashed my truck yet but oh so close....
5.12,000 lb. worm gear winch. Heavy front bumper.
6.Get the A/C working.

See you on the trail. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Re: Post up your long-term \'burb goals...

Reaching my goal is many years away and I know it.
But I do have the settlement from my wreck to help finance some of the build when I get it.

So far I have the D70HD, the 203, I need the D60 still but have one lined up when I get the cash and I'll look for the 205 after I get both axles set up.
