Post your Winter projects here

Isn't winter time to start all over?

1. Sell 454, TH400, Gen1 Doubler, and 27 spline NP205
2. Install LT1 and 4L60E out of 94 Camaro
3. Install new Gen2 Doubler and 32 spline NP205
4. new radiator, core support, trans. cooler, engine wiring
5. lighten, shorten, narrow body as much as possible

I'm just about ready to swap in my 14ff/D60, and 38"TSLs.
This winter? Save for Tuned Port Injection, swap that on my K5 along with a new cam and roller rockers. Maybe 100 shot of some juice. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Save up for some slicks, better electric fans, disk brakes, and get my car ready for the dragstrip.

Just make sure you clean your junk before wheeling as no one wants to ride with a stinky pee pee! /forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

My biggest project this winter will be the purchase of a trailer.
The body narrowfication will be put off at least one more season, it's to straight to cut up, will work on the straight part this summer. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Winter, Hmmmm cold, miserable, let's see:
1.Square tube in place of rocker panel's.

2.Install the new fandango t-case shifter I've made, [to move it closer to the driver's side, so I won't have to reach between someone's leg's to operate the shifter]

3.Tilt front end, along with the finalized front winch bumper. Aka Deer protection.

4.New cab/body mount's, [the 71 stocker's are a bit? Brittle?] /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif or rotted /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

5.Move gas tank out of cab, and under box, or in box, undecided yet.

6.Move battery box to the bed of truck.

7.Clean up the wiring/cable's/hose's, under the hood. It's a scattered mess now. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

8.Install a new set of front spring's, that actually have spring to them. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

dang I always forget things, you just reminded me
- install poly body mounts
- longer brake lines
- clean up wiring and hoses(get some lights working)
- and move battery

Neil, Winter time on the desert is time to go wheeling not wrenching. Its just starting to get below the high 80's here. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/pimp1.gif

<font color="blue">Sorry guys, I have a huge bomb to drop.

As some of you may remember, I whaled a telephone pole pretty hard a year ago and bent the frame. We got it mostly straight but it's seen better days. It was a 31 year NY/NJ tub at the time of the pole and the crash did it in. The firewall is weak and moves so much the clutch is useless on anything but flat ground, the windsheild will not seal, and the bedsides are cracking at the floor. The frame was comprimised too. It twists more now even with the cage than without it before the crash. I tried to drive it on the highway this weekend (hasnt touched pavement since July) and it felt like it was going to fall apart /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

So my winter project is to take the drivetrain out of my K5 and build up a mint YJ I drove home last week for $800.

I plan on possibly adding a receiver hitch to my rear bumper and saving up enough money to get my front High Angle Driveline shaft rebuilt with 42* C.V.

Will

-Saving, saving, and more saving for 35's
-possibly get a 14b FF from my uncle for free!
-if I get that new 14b I'll have to find a gear set for the front
-Finish up the bodywork hopefully
-maybe build a tube rear bumper
-we'll see?

GMC - Rear Main Seal...if not find a rebuilt 6.2 to swap in, pull 208 and put in new gaskets

Also find a gasser 4x4 for the winter I might have a line on one already but I dont know

I looking into buying a beater K5...I have the 1ton gear to hang on it and might build a doubler for it also, /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

For me, I have the 1 tons bought but they will most likely go in sometime after the first of the year.

Same with me. Also already have my E12000 and bumpers are in the process of being made so I'll have those installed.

Considering:
Buying some 35" A/Ts on another set of black wheels to run on the road
Crossover for the '60
hydro
front locker
rear discs on the ff

Just see how time works on wrenchin'. I can probably come up with the money, just no time to work on stuff! I'm gonna need a hand with my 1 ton swap too, I hope someone from CK5 helps me out. In the past I did axle swaps myself, but between my bad knee and the fact that a pair of 1 ton axles weighs nearly 1000 lbs., and I weigh 135, I'm gonna need some help. Already put my engine in myself this year and damn near killed myself in the process.
