I was lucky enough to throw my blazer headers into a pallet headed for a professional exhaust coater. Paid a good price too. This time around, for my latest project, I'd like to either just paint my manifolds or have a powder coater I work with take care of them for me.

1) Kylon BBQ paint or

2) powder coat

Which do you think will last the longest? And yes, either option will be getting sandblasted. :D

Krylon BBQ will wear off. I know first hand. I've given up on using it because its too porous. Especially for cast iron.

Send the **** out to jet hot or use cast blast high temp.

I dont agree--I've seen exhaust manifolds glow orange before at night!...maybe they were getting thin from layers that rotted off, or the timing was retarted, but they will get that hot under the right conditions...it's tough to get anything to stay on exhaust manifolds for very long--paints,ceramic,even chrome turns blue and blisters off eventually..

When is the last time you've used an IR gun and checked the temps of your cast iron exhaust manifolds? Of course they can glow red HOT if the engine isn't running correctly.
