Hey guys I am looking for a little input as to powdercoating costs. I called a place here to see about getting the frame on my K5 blasted and powdercoated. I was quoted $55 per hour if I just want it blasted with an estimate of 3+ hours to do it. Or to have it blasted, epoxy primer, and powdercoated a color of choice is $350. I am just curious about the prices in other areas to have something to compare to. So please post up what it runs in your area for powdercoating.

man that seems really cheap. i wanted to get my steel storm door blasted and powder coated and that was $550:crazy:

I had 4 wheels sandblasted and powdercoated for $60 but that was the "friend of a friend" deal. Seems like the going rate was about twice that.

$350 to powdercoat a frame is probably a good deal.

Does not sound too bad, My bother went though the same thing about getting stuff painted, not spray bombed with spray paint but with a spray gun and it was just as much as powder coat. He ended up power coating the parts.

I paid $149 to have my Blazen tube bumper blasted and powdercoated. I was happy with the results, but don't know if I paid too much or not.

I thought it seemed like a good deal but just wasn't sure. I think I will probably do it. I figure that if it takes several hours to blast the frame and remove all the undercoating, then for just a little more money I might as well get it powdercoated as well. The guy said that he could give a better estimate on how long it would take to blast the frame once he saw it. So I guess if it will take more than $200 to blast it, then I wil just go ahead and get it coated.

I paid $350. to have a 1-ton rolling chassis sand blasted and painted 3 yrs ago. He also did my shocks and rollbar.

Talk to Reddevil (or something like that). Send him a PM maybe. He'd probably be willing to give what he'd quote. He does powdercoating

Well I talked to them again today to ask a few more questions. One concern is that after blasting I have some things I wanted to do to the frame. The guy told me that if I wanted to do the powdercoat package and take the frame back between blasting and coating he could do that but that it would cost an extra $75. Something about needing to blast it just before doing the coating. So thats pretty cool. I think I am going to go ahead and do it.

do it and pics will be next right?? :D

Well it might be a couple months before I get it all done but pics before and after will definately be posted.

Get yourself a putty knife and scrape all the excess grease, dirt and oil off the frame before you take it in. Doing that should make it easier for them to blast, costing you less in the long run.

I have already washed it with the hot water pressure washer we have at work. The grease and grime is gone but there is still some of the undercoating left on it. Some is flaking off with a putty knife and some is still pretty stuck. I origionally called just to find out about blasting costs but with the deal offered I think the powdercoat is a great deal.
