Was think about this, now is ther any reason you CAN't use a door lock acuator and fit it in the back door, to make it a power lock?

would love to be able to KNOW there locked, so my tools are safe, and well as unlock it from in the truck

Yes it can be done and it has been done before. Saw a burb on the net about a year ago that had power barn door locks.

cool, I am going to do it when i pull my other bur apart, will have lots of actuators then :D

My van with barn doors had power locks so yes it can easily be done.
Go to a junkyard and look how it is in the van doors, should be the same way.

really!?!?!

any chance you could pull the panel off and get me a pic???

is it tied to the doors or is it on a seporate switch?

It's tied to the doors. I can get you a picture maybe this weekend. It's been sticking lately and doesn't want to unlock all the time.

get some graphite spray. I sprayed all the internals of my doors. And after that my once "crapped out" door lock actuators work flawlessly now.

I used this stuff called Jiggaloo... I think that's how you spell it.

Cool, thanks for the info.

Any time man.

I sprayed all the linkages, and pivot points with the stuff.

The good thing is, the stuff is like spray paint. It goes on wet, and dries really quickly completely dry.

Just keep a rag handy, it runs, and will stain the paint. It never really comes off. It kinda fades away with scrubbing, but never really cleans up completely.

My 1990 has a power rear lock on the barn door.

Yea my '89 had factory power barn doors, but when the doors got swapped out manual ones went on it. I still have the old doors, Ill get a pics as soon as I can for ya.

My '86 has power barn doors, I'll take a pic in a min. I can tell you that all the actuators are the same but the barn door mounting bracket is different than all the rest.

I got to this tread alittle late, but i was also going to say that yeah, my '89 is factory power barn door locks as well,,,,

they only work obviously when the door is closed though, as the previous person posted up the contact points for the power..:D

I converted a setup years ago and I went with wires at the hinge with the speaker wires for the door so I could lock and unlock weather the doors were closed or open. :D

imiceman...did your van have an inside door release/handle? I want to be able to open the door from the inside of my Burb, right now I just have the panel off and pull the release in the door.

The one that had power did have a handle, the one I converted didn't, it was originally a cargo van made a conversion van, I made a handle :D .

Cool! I'll go dumpster divin this weekend and see if I can get something to work. I'll post pics if I get somewhere with it.
