Power brakes

I have a 71 chevy pickup im working on i was was looking could i use a brake boster off a 73-87 chevy truck?? it looks like the linkage would hook up right id just have to drill some new holes to mount it anyone tried this?

I swapped in the complete brake system from a 1986 Chevy Truck into my 1974 Blazer. I didn't have to drill any holes. It swapped right in. But, I assume the fire wall on your 71 is different. I bet you could drill some holes to make it work. I guess you would have to make sure the brake pedal still has the full range of motion to operated the piston the moves in the master cylinder.

If you are converting to power I would use a 72 3/4ton 4x4 setup to convert.

Duno really, never done it! But I do what to swap out my 1/2 ton Master/Booster setup for a dual diaphram 3/4 ton style someday. My father-inlaw did it to his 72 stepside and said it was a direct swap, no drilling. I think the setup is under 200 but not sure...

thats waht i have on my 68 3/4 ton pickup but i puta 71 cab on a 74 chevy balzer frame adn dont really want ot use the old brake setup

Theres nothing better about 73-up boosters than the 71-72-up boosters. And the 71-72 booster wil actually bolt on with no mods. Good used ones can be found for less than 35 each. I buy and sell them alot, but not lately since the city finally got after me for having parts and vehicles, hm.....
if you have to pay 40 for a good used 71-72 booster then something is wrong.
