I have an 86 K-5 and when doing about 75 on a flat highway I'm fine but as soon as I start to climb a grade, I seem to lose a lot of power. It slowly goes down to 70, then 65, 60, and sometimes 55 or below depending on the grade. Does anyone know what could cause this big of a powerloss?

Change gears or get a torquey motor . Basically it isn't geared for climbing in 2wd . Just put it in 3rd and go is all you can do until you regear .

Drove to Moab and back with a 305/700r4 , 33's and 3.73 gears . Didn't exactly win no races uphill , but I made it . Get a tach , you'd be surprised at how you dont even over rev the motor in 2nd with it floored :)

I have 35's 4:88's in both axles and a new jasper 350 motor. 3rd makes a little bit of a different but not much. I have a tach and at about 70 75 it makes from 2500 to 3000 rpms and in third almost 4000 rpms.
