I searched all over this forum and bascially get an answer of "dont adjust the sector shaft"

Heres the deal. I got my cross steer all done, with the xj shaft. The truck is all over the road. So i start checking things and what i found is the i can grab the xj steer shaft and spin it about 20 degrees with the truck off and sitting in park. This is exactly how it drives too. like im turning the wheel alot before they actually move.

Did i get a worn out steering box from the wrecking yard?

With the wheels pointed straight ahead loosen the lock nut on the sector shaft adjusting bolt. You will need to turn the adjusting bolt clockwise to remove the slop from the steering box. Make sure you don't go too far or the steering box won't go beyond center.
