Power Steering Conversion

Ok, after taking some measurements it looks like my harmonic balancer has moved inward (toward the engine) about a 1/4 inch which is throwing the pulleys off. I'm assuming that when I reinstalled the damper retaining bolt after adding the second pulley I must have moved the damper inward during tightening, though I didn't think this was possible. And after a taking the pulley system apart and putting it back on a time or two I see now that my new PS pulley is indeed off of alignment by the same amount as the water pump pulley - about 1/4 inch.

So I guess tomorrow I'll rent/borrow a puller, take the balancer off and see what the deal is. If everything looks fine then I'll get some shims - if not - well, we'll see.

Is it possible that a shim dropped out when you took it all apart? That seems really strange since the outer part of the crank pulley/balancer does not get stressed/compressed from the fixing bolt. I need to dig up my pictures and post them up so we can compare. I'm running all SWP pulleys. My alignment issue is more angular than planar; the pump is at a slight angle but is pretty my inline with the crank pulley.
