Is anyone running a power steering pump cooler with hydo-assist? I'm running Red-Neck Ram and about to replace the pump and was thinking about putting a cooler on it while in the process.

I've got the rock ram system and had to add their cooler. The pump kept overheating trying to turn the 44" boggers.

use a small tranny cooler

I have hydro assist with 42" swampers. I put a small tranny cooler in the return line and have had no problems with heat. This also gives you a little more volume of fluid.

Thats my set up. I am running a WTO Redneck Ram too. http://westtexasoffroad.homestead.com/

I don't have hydro but I do have a PS cooler. I wish I had pic's but they got wiped out with the swap over to the new Photo shop. Basically I used a small tranny cooler and mounted it in front of my radiator and routed the lines through a hole in the front grill. My pump was overheating until I put the cooler on. No probs since then!

i run a small tranny cooler on mine and use the extended filler neck hose trick. I have a WTO hydro assist. Even with a good amount of rock action, my steering resevoir never seems to boil over. Thats a good thing. When I upgrade my big tranny cooler to an even bigger stacked plate cooler Im gonna put the big one in the PS loop. IMO, you can't have too much cooling when it comes to the PS system. Just by its nature it can generate a LOT of heat and do so very quickly.
