Thats not a leak, it's where I threw up after looking at those pictures in the lounge:D:haha:

I hate to say it, but I replaced my seal 3 times and it started leaking after each time. I finally bought a new steering box. With a warranty.

Dude.............................You need to post this in your step by step steering box thread. I used that info to replace mine and then couldn't figure out while I still had the leak.

I'm fixin to do the exact same thing and buy a new gear box.

Are you installing the correct seal? There are 2 different size seals, the ID is different on them.

I never had success...

Every steering box I've messed with at the rag joint end either leaked worse,or the steering felt looser than ever, or too tight and "lumpy" after I took that big nut and adjuster plug out to swap a new seal in,and I was real carefull to put everything back the same number of turns,etc..I always ended up buying a "good used" steering box from the boneyard and had to put that in instead..

I guess that shaft gets a groove worn in it or something, that tears up the new seal in short order..and once you move that "adjuster" plug thing,I have never been able to make the box "feel" right afterwards..maybe moving that plug moves where the seal will ride too,and that leads to the leaks??..all I know is now I don't bother messing with trying to "fix" a steering box,I just swap on a "good" one..much easier and faster, and usually no problems!..

You mean this thread. I think that the thread is right on and the info good if you are changing the seal. I have no idea why it sprung a leak again. and again. And again. But i am going to update it just in case.

that's the one. It is great info. I was patting myself on the back and thinking to myself "CK5 is the ****. It would have taken me all day to figure that out by myself" Then I started it up.:doah: You win some and you lose some.
