I have an 1986 truck and im installing a steering box from a 1973 that accepts flare fittings. Does anyone know the size of the fitting that would be on the end of the high pressure hose going into the box? I need the name/size of this piece so I can get it put on the end of my high pressure line. It's inverted flare I think but is it 45 deg. or 37 deg? Does anyone have a picture?

It's inverted flare..

It isn't 37 or 45, those are FLARE measurements.. AN so to speak... Inverted flare just goes by tube size...

As far as size, I'd be guessing...

Pre-79 box high pressure side: 11/16-18 inverted flare
Pre-79 box low pressure side: 5/8-11 inverted flare
80+ box high pressure side: 18MM o-ring
80+ box low pressure side: 16MM o-ring

All fitting specs found at PSC: http://www.pscmotorsports.com/index.php?cPath=127_154

I'm currently doing the exact same thing on my '86. Conversion fittings seem to be hard to locate. I ended up getting new lines for a '77 and a junk yard PS pump to rob the fitting out of the back (I'll be pulling it for mods anyway). Not to mention I needed a reservoir to hack up too for added fluid capacity. Hope this helps.

thanks, 11/16-18 inverted flare is what i need then. im doind hydro assist also and this is the last thing holding me up. i have hydroboost so no fitting on the back of my ps pump. this line im getting modified goes to the hydroboost. i also added a tranny cooler to add fluid capacity. good luck with yours!
