The power steering pump on the 78 K5 has hose clamps that attach the hose to the power steering unit. I'm wondering if someone hacked this. Does your power steering hoses have fittings on both sides of the power steering hose?

The low pressure/return side is usually just hose clamps.
X2 low pressure / return is hose & clamp .
High pressure should have a crimped barrel and high pressure hose. Some pumps can put out 1500 psi
