Pumps are identical internally, the valve at the back can be changed.

Think that is 80s and up

It will as long as you have the serpentine pully installed on it, after it is on the bracket.

'79 and down is flare fitting and uses 3/8" mounting bolts.

'80 and up is o-ring (like that one) and uses 10mm bolts.

The shaft diameter is the same across the board (other than the really early bolt-on pulleys), so you can swap pulleys as necessary and the bolt pattern never changed.

Agree, as I just went through this last week.

x2 . my 79 pump is on serp belt bracket now minus bolt swap cause serp bracket stuff is metric . and pulley is on also . working for over 10 years.

I have several P/S pumps saved off various engine swaps..

I'm pretty sure a few I saved that came on 1975-1979 straight sixes with the integral head had longer shafts for the pulley, but a few guys have told me the pump is the same as a V8,its the pulley itself that has a different offset --I haven't looked to verify that, they might be right..
Wont hurt to measure the shaft just in case there are some variations from one engine to another..

The info about the flare vs O-ring fittings is correct--you can swap the bung on the back of the pump so you can retain the original P/S hose...the hydroboost pumps have more pressure and flow and a different "can" with hose barbs for the extra return lines--I'm not sure if those pumps will bolt up in place of a regular pump, but probably will..

I have a few early P/S pumps that have a round "can" instead of the typical "canned ham" style,I think they came off pre 1970 vehicles..

I bought a supposed delco reman pump for my 74K5 350 from Amazon.
Looked identical but would not fit in the bracket.
Closer inspection the mount holes on the pump were slightly different.
Have no idea what its application was.
Sent it back no problem and bought one from napa, fit perfect.

I sold a few that evidently got boxed wrong when I worked at parts stores--my thoughts were the pumps were off a Mopar application, they used Saginaw pumps identical looking to GM ones on many of their vehicles over the years, but they are probably "just" different enough not to be interchangeable..
