Is there anything special that I will need to replace the power steering pump on my 91 Suburban that has the serpentine setup? Replaced the steering box, now I'm having issues with no power steering and I see no fluid moving around in the pump:confused:

I believe I need to remove the pully first to get to the mounting bolts. Seems easy enough I guess. It looked really difficult without removing the pulley

Yea, I think you can rent a pulley puller from Autozone if I recall correctly. Finding a quiet pump....that's another story.

Make sure you bled it real well, just in case.

Got a Snap ON puller from a friend. Took the pulley off first,, then I was able to get to the 3 bolts that hold the power steering pump to the serp bracket. Just for future reference, the pulley has to be removed first.

I did have to remove the top of the fan shroud so I could get access to the pulley puller bolt

If the truck has a power steering cooler,I'd blow compressed air through it to make sure no goop is blocking the flow of fluid...I have seen some that developed rust inside the tubing and nearly blocked off all fluid flow too..
