I would assume it is the same as your tranny temp max. Oil typically starts breaking down at about 230 degrees depending on the oil quality, synthetic is around 270 degrees.

I know it is probably a little more expensive but look at the Howe cooler. It is all -8 fittings and has the fan on it. You might even look for someway to mount a res. between the pump and fan to get some storage.
I wonder why I haven't had problems with mine? I don't have a cooler but I do have that 1 quart res.
Howe told us that line size was everything when putting together steering stuff.
The problems with mine were because the ram wasn't hooked up and I hauled azz to get to the rockpile so fast. Just heated it up fast and it stayed that hot for about an hour.
Yeah, I've been looking at the hydro assist diagrams on Howe's site and am thinking about just plumbing everything with AN fittings and the hose sizes that he recommends.
