I guess the bigger tires took out the power steering pump.
I amgoing to change it out this morning. I am not looking forward to it,
the serpentine belt bracket on the driver side has to come off completly to get it out.

Pumps can suck, make sure you are running a cooler as it will extend the life. When youve had enough swapping stock pumps, its worth the upgrade to aftermarket.

I'll trade you jobs! I need to trim and install my new differential cover.
I hope that your problem is only the pump. What did it do?

Do you have a pulley puller? You are going to need one. I don't reinstall the one bolt behind the power steering pump.

The bracket can stay on. But as Martin said, you will need a pulley puller to remove the pump from the bracket. Don't reinstall the bolt behind the pump (or take it out if you chose to leave the bracket on).

well i have a serpintine belt system like on a 1990 silverado and the braket had to come off when i changed it. and it was one of those days where everything went wrong that could.

first the power sterring installer broke. whent and got a new onee got that on and was under the thing putting in the 2 bolts that go into the block and looked at the harmonic ballancer and the rubber seal was almost all gone. so i get one of those.
pull the thing off go to put it back on and the installer for that broke.
I have never herd of one breaking like that.its all back together just have to put fluid in and check for leaks.

6872xtc- it was armstrong steering for the past month and i just got tired of it.

this stupid thing fought to hard to leave the braket on im sure you can but easeir to pull five bolt than fight the darn thing.

it hade a vibration that was bad on acceleration im gues this was it cause its gone now

6.2 diesel ?...

I ask because its pretty rare to see a bad harmonic balancer on a gas engine...

I've seen 3 fail, one on a '67 Vette flew off the crank during a high RPM hole shot,(the pre '68 engines had no balancer bolt !)--a few others did not "fail",but they slippped on the rubber, rendering the timing marks useless...

Seen more than a few engines that had the wrong balancer installed too, ones that were supposed to have externally balanced ones on engines that did not need one,and vise versa..that makes for a nice cocktail shaker!..:eek1:

nope its an sbc, ive heard of them coming apart but never seen one like this.
glad that i cought it before it came apart

I had a Mercruiser 350 spit the outer balancer ring the other day.. no idea where the rubber ended up at. :haha:

but this thing had been submerged in saltwater MANY times...
