So last fall I figured before it gets cold let's put the front end play to bed on my 91 Blazer with 211k miles.

Truck is otherwise stock and aside from a worn gearbox runs and drives nice.

So I order up a reman AC Delco box and ORD brace and install. Had some trouble bleeding the system of air (wheel off ground turning from lock to lock 10 times before startup didn't do it).

The end result is anything over curb idle and the pump now moans. I have flushed the system multiple times, didn't quiet it. With the cap off engine running I sure have a lot of "flow" inside the resoviour.

Worse yet while my play in the box is gone so is my easy steering. By that I mean to say it's more like power assist, hell my 84 K2500 is easier to turn the wheel. So, is the box at fault?

Before I throw parts at the truck is there a way to say test the PS pump? "T" a fitting in the feed side of the box to see if it's delivering the pressure to assist with steering?

Thoughts??

Thanks!

Is it foaming inside the resevoir?
Jack up the front end.
Turn wheel lock to lock 10 times.
Check resevoir.
Should be ZERO foam.
Any foam at all; repeat lock to lock turns.
After 3 tries and still foam; you got a leak on the suction side.
Happens.
May not leak fluid but it can suck air.

First check for obvious leaks.
Then do the above procedure.

Didn't notice any foam (running). On your test you want lock to lock 10 times key on engine off?

New tensioner so no slip. If I knew how to diagnosis the pump(check pressure correctly) would be nice. I mean it was quiet till I put the reman box in.

Just found my flow meter, anyone have the spec's for a 91 pump?
