Hello, looking for advice and help with a new new lock for the rear tailgate power window. Upon inspection and removal of the old one, I noticed that it was melted and burnt and that the wiring had been cut because it looks like there was a fire started or some arcing. Since I was not the one that removed them, I don't know how the wiring goes back together. They're three wires and the new lock cylinder only comes with two pegs. The third peg was laying in the bag and I don't know if it is broken or what any of this is about. Like I said, I didn't get to remove the old one because it was melted and someone cut the wiring for me. So I'm trying to scramble through all of these eggs and figure all this out.

The lock cylinder and the switch are 2 different parts. If just the switch was burned, you should be able to swap it and keep the same door key working with it. The switch is the white plastic piece inside the lock.

Notice that this is not like the door windows that reverse polarity, the tailgate motor has 2 hots. This is helpful in the event someone is pushing the dash button at the same time someone is turning the key switch. The front and rear have separate power feeds, so you'll need to check for that and verify a ground path from the motor case to the vehicle frame. Does the window work from the dash switch?
