OK Im moving today and I took the first load over to the new apt and now the tailgate window wont go up. It stilkl wants to go down but no up. The key doesnt work and neither does the switch in the cab. I took the test light out and the white wire is hot but the blue one isnt. Do any of yall know where the problem could be? I think its just wireing. ANyone have any other ideas?

ya ive got that same problem, ive taken the entire mechanical contents out regreased everything, nada, i messed around with the electrical to no avail as well /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif, its a real pain

I had the same problem with the Suburban. Turns out it was the switch that stops the window from being rolled up with the gate open. I just bypassed it.

well i dont know what side its on but its working now. Thanx for the info guys If it happens again Ill know what to look 4.

Your a lucky bastard, I dont know wtf is up with mine, you have to help it up and down and it barely will go up or down with someone helping it. since its down I think im just gonna take the top off since im not DD it anymore.

Get a test light out and check the wires. if they are good its got to be the motor

Not true. If your wires are corroded internally or at the connections you can get 12V with the wires disconnected. Once you try to draw current through them they won't be able to handle the load.

BTW: If you're thinking of getting rid of a bad window motor let me know, I'll buy it off you. /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

Bringing this one back up. If it is the tailgate motor anyone know where to find one? I have looked everywhere online and cant seem to find one for sale.

Also is it cheaper to just put in a manual crank?

Go with a manual crank, check lmc truck website they sell all sorts of stuff for our trucks. Also it would not hurt to look in a JY for a motor for the window.
