mine would go up with the key but not down!! searched ck5 and found a thread for the repair of the key switch.........pulled mine out and found a broken contact.......soldered a new piece of .005 brass shim stock in place.........steam cleaned the regulator ....relubed the cable and regreased the regulator.....put everything back together and it works like a brand new one!!!!!!! just wanted to praise you guys at ck5 for all the knowledge , i learn something every day on this site , thanks guys

That's good to hear. I may about to switch mine to a manual window...
With my switch it'll raise up but now lower and neither up nor down works with my key in the back...

mine works great now up and down!!! all i need now is to replace the channels with some new ones with new felt!! your contacts on the inside of the switch are probably burnt up.........it's actually a very easy fix........i was a little skepticle about it being so easy , but it actually is!! hardest part is pullin the window and regulator assy out .and that not too bad either!!when you get the switch out of the tailgate, the plastic piece with the three prongs on it is held in by a very small metal clip on one side...press this clip and pull the plastic piece out......be careful though that clip is very easy to lose...lol!! when you turn that piece upside down you will see your contacts and be able to tell if they are burnt or loose!! clean or resolder them and you should be good to go , unless of course you have a wiring issue:D

your welcome , anytime......by the way if you up for a membership....i promise you it will be the best $25.00 you could spend , in regards to info and help with your truck...........there are some very cool and very knowledgable people on this site , who are more than willing to help ya out
:D:D

Can i get a link to that repair. Mines does the same thing. Works fine from inside the truck but only goes up when i use the key.

Re: PLEASE HELP!! Another Rear Window?
I rebuilt the switch.Just as above get the switch out.Basically there is a "U" shaped contact with a cam in the middle .The cam is turned by the key. When turned the cam causes the "U" shaped contact to touch the outer contact and the window moves. On mine the contacts on both sides of the "U" were burnt. So I cleaned them off best I could and took the brass bottom part to an old bulb and a set of sidecuts and made 2 pieces just a wide as the contact and long enough to bend in half and go over it. I then soldered it in place where the old contacts were and it works like a charm.Seemed more fun then to but a new one for $50.00. For a more detailed scenerio just ask...
