What’s up guys finally got most of my rearend done .Went for a spin in the court and all of a sudden the rearend starts making this popping sound like a bind then a release pop . I’ve heard a similar noise before when I broke the spiders in my stock rear axel just curious if anyone has had this issue or something similar to it ! Also I’m getting a lot of axel wrap I have mounted my shocks yet so I’m thinking that will solve it.

Thanks In advance for any replies!

Lock Rights make a lot of popping and banging sounds. Just their nature. They tend to only like accelerating or decelerating, in between coasting makes them do weird things. These symptoms are worse with a standard transmission.

Mine is bad and sounds horrible ! No way I’m driving it like this !

Did you use a new center pin?

My loc rite does what yours is doing. I think it's fixable. I'm putting a new center pin in and putting new side gears shims in. Just need to get the part number for the shims. Haven't looked cause my jimmy has been down

Seems normal. Did you install It with or without the side gear thrust washers?

It's pretty hard to mess the install up unless you forgot the side gears. It will break in and soften over time but that's the nature of the beast. Sometimes my Detroit would go months without noise and sometimes it would sound like it exploded twice in one day. Sounded like the driveshaft broke and the whole truck shifted. Lock rites aren't that bad relatively.

Trying to upload a video it won’t let me .can I email one of you the video and tell me what you think ?

So I got it up in the air and it’s spinning free from the other side I can hear the teeth skipping over eachother !

That part sounds normal. If you jack up the tires and spin one of them it will free ratchet and make a constant light click-click-click-click sound. As far as the sounds you heard when driving that is stuff you determine if normal or not. If you haven't been around locker like that it can seem pretty loud and sound like something is broken when it disengages, but I have also seen them make more noise then normal. The loud pop should only be at certain times like when you let off the gas and make a turn, then maybe when you hit the gas again.

In regards to another post you do NOT need to put friction modifier or any other addition in a Powertrax locker. I believe the companies does make a clutch based limited slip but that is the only one that needs the friction modifier.

I really think something is wrong I’m a machinist by trade and I’ve heard some bad noises and it’s bad lol !

I had that happen to me as well. My new Detroit no spin lost some teeth on the center gear because I left in the side spacers on and I wasn’t supposed to. It needs that open area to be able to ratchet. And the spacers inside the carrier were enough to not let it ratchet and broke my gear teeth off. When in doubt open up the rear and look at it. It will make noise until it breaks in but if it’s installed wrong you can break it.

So you took out the thrust washers ? I’m pretty sure that power trax said to leave them in maybe I miss read it . I left mine in and what you said makes total sense .
