hey everyone, new to this forum and have a couple questions. first off my driver power window has come off track and was curious if anyone has taken their truck in to be fixed so i can get a general idea, i dont feel confident enough on this task to do without screwing up my glass. second was about a rear window cable diagram as mine was broke when i got it but the motor works still..... it is a 1985 k5 blazer thanks for any input

Just try popping the door panel off and at least look at the window, if it still looks that bad and you really dont wanna do it yourself it never hurt to look at least. It could be an easy fix. :dunno:

sorry I forgot to mention already took the door panel off and discovered that the track was off, and tried to get back in but was affraid of bending/breaking something lol

Oh i see. I have no idea on pricing of bringing it anywhere. Ive made it almost 5 years since I got my license of making it a point to never bring a vehicle to a shop to be fixed :thumb:.

If you could take some pictures of it with the door panel off, I bet someone could give you some info on what to do without messing anything up. And then its FREE!!!!:waytogo:

thay not bad to play with. and always have other door to look at for how it goes together in reverse as its otherside.

and fyi if glass needs to be removed you need to pull the vent window assembly first.

and extra hands to hold glass will help a lot or duct tape also if by your self.

Tear into it. Thats the best way to learn.

Agreed :waytogo:

You wont ever figure out how something really works until you take it apart. And like sweetk30 said, you always have the other side thats still good to look at if you cant figure somthing out

have an idea how it works, but if pricing is reasonable i would have it repaired, therefore any further problems would be the repair shops problem lol

Go to LMC.com truck and look at their schematic of the window and window tracks, that MIGHT help you see how it all goes together.

But if your going to own an 85 K5, your going to have to get your hands dirty, otherwise its going to get expensive, while these are well made, older trucks require maintance and stuff wears out. I recently had to replace rear key switch. what a PITA that was, but it cost me 25bux for the switch and about an hour or two of my time. I have no idea what a shop wouldve charged me to do that. I know they wouldve been cussing the whole time. lol

oh come on guys I was just asking for a price if anyone had done it. hands already dirty on this truck, took less than 3 hours to lift it, just bought a second one last week with 3/4 ton running gear and th400 with 205 to swap under mine. just got the block back from machine shop, im basically building a copy of the old 300hp 350ci corvette engine. the 350s and 305s these things come out with are boat anchors lol

Call around to any one of these places and ask for a quote. Most guys here (myself included) have done this on their own, and wouldn't have any idea how much a shop would charge.

If we're shooting in the dark, I'd say minimum $200 just for labor.

pulled it out today and put back in the tracks, put it back in and tested it up and down about 4 times and it popped back out.... looks like plastic rollers are shot so im just gonna get new stuff.... thanks for help tho

Or one of the metal bars that the rollers are attached to is bent allowing the roller to pop out of the guide track where the relief notches are.

well got the new motor and regulator in the mail finally, fyi you DO NOT have to remove the wing window to take out the door window
